Purpose: to deliver a series of workshops to the community, and to improve knowledge and skills in food/drink choices, cooking, and health awareness
Workshop 1
Talk about food
Information:
- Why are nutrients so important?
- Health and unhealthy foods/drinks
- Healthy eating/drinking
- Ideas of home-cooked meals
Optional:
Cooking demonstration – (protein: beans) and Vegetables stir fry
Venue:
Community room with large screen for PPT
May require:
May require portable stove for cooking demonstration (depends on the venue ie. fire alarms)
Cost:
$80-100 per person

Workshop 2
Cooking show
Prepare/Cook healthy side dishes
Demonstration of kitchen management skills:
- food safety and handling foods
- storing cooked foods
- reheating cooked foods safely
- kitchen set up
- preparation and cooking spaces
- cleaning up
Venue:
kitchen with bench, stove and oven
May require:
May require portable stove for cooking demonstration (depends on the venue ie. fire alarms)
Cost:
$100 per person
Up to 30 people
Workshop 3
Cooking class
Cook three-course vegetarian meals
- Entrée ie. soup
- Dinner ie. curry
- Dessert ie. baked fruits
Venue:
Commercial kitchen set up of 6 x bench, stove and oven with cooking equipment.
Cost:
$120 per person
Up to 20 people
Workshop 4
Men’s Healthy BBQ
Information:
How the red and processed meats can be harmful?
Marinating the proteins with herbs and spices
Cooking on the BBQ:
- Fish
- Chicken
- Homemade burgers (beef and vegetarian)
- Vegetables
Social event with drinks
Venue:
set of BBQs and a kitchen for preparation and demonstrations
Cost:
$120 (food included – BYO drinks)
Up to 10 men (not limited to people who identify themselves as men or gender fluid)
Weather pending as this is an outdoor event
Workshop 5
Health issues and how to eat/drink the right way
- Cholesterol
- Blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Other illnesses Preventing health complications Demonstration of medicinal foods and drinks
Venue:

Cost:
$100 per person
Up to 16-20 people with existing health issues (not limited to people who are health workers or wishing to learn prevention strategies)
Workshop 6
Kids workshop
- Talk about fruits and vegetables, where from and why they are good for health and growth
- What’s wrong with junk foods?
- School lunchbox activity
Demo:
How to pack healthy foods in the lunchbox
How to make snacks:
Salad wraps or protein balls
Venue:
Classroom or hall
Need a food processor if making protein balls
Cost:
$60 per person
