Tempeh Stir Fry
Preparation time: 45 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves: 1-2 people
Ingredients
200g tempeh, cut into 1cm cubes
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
3 kale leaves, pulled and washed
1 carrot, thinly sliced
1/4 red cabbage, thinly sliced
Sauce
1/4 tsp chilli flakes
3 tbsp soy or tamari sauce
1 tbsp kecap Manis sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil5 tbsp water
Topping
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds
1 tablespoon nuts (ie. cashews, almonds, walnuts, pine nuts)
Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Make the sauce first
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl for marinating
- Add the protein
- Soak for 20 mins or longer (overnight is good)
- Heat a wok or large frypan on medium heat
- Add oil to heat up
- Add onion, garlic, tempeh (or any protein) with sauce
- Cook for 12 mins, stirring
- Put in bowl to rest
- Add vegetables to the wok or frypan
- Cook for 5 mins, stirring
- Add the protein with sauce
- Cook for 8-10 mins on high heat, stirring often
- Put in a serving bowl
- Add toppings and serve
Note: Protein can be tofu, chicken, lamb, pork or beef strips
